In my opinion, genetic engineering needs to focus on preventing debilitating disorders and genetic diseases, rather than superficial traits. It needs to be treated like any other legitimate medical procedure and covered by insurance.

This is genetics vs eugenics. A geneticist looks at a gene mutation and thinks about survival rate, symptoms, quality of life. A eugenicist only cares about aesthetics and getting “desirable” traits, which are usually based in racism.
