I'm only 15 (born in 2010) I speak fluent English but my dad doesn't and I enjoyed being his little translator, I thought "maybe I can become a translator one day." but nevermind, people have AI and Google translate and no one really needs my future job anymore. I had an interest in psychology and I still do, I thought "maybe I can become a psychologist one day." but nevermind, people would rather have an AI psychologist that misdiagnoses them, simply because it's "cheaper" and no one really needs my future job anymore. I loved writing, I was writing fanfiction and it was so much fun, I thought "maybe I can become an author one day." but nevermind, AI already stole that, and no one really needs my future job anymore. I was into English poetry, I even wrote some poems here and there, nothing too fancy, just something a 15 year old can be proud of and show off to her friends, my friends loved them, they said "you could totally be a poet one day." but nevermind, AI already took that and no one really needs my future job anymore. I thought "maybe I can become an English teacher one day." it's a good job that combines my love for the language and literature, but students don't rely on school teachers anymore, they'd rather have a stupid AI bot do their homework or explain the lessons to them, and no one really needs my future job anymore.

i wrote this and I’m 13: everyone stops for the rose. they point at its petals, call it lovely, careful not to touch the thorns while still wanting to keep it. but nobody writes poems about the leaf. the plain green thing that stays through every season. the thing stepped on without a second glance. the thing called ordinary simply because it does not bloom loudly. and maybe that is the tragedy of people too. how the world teaches us to chase fireworks while ignoring the steady light of a porch left on for us at night. anyone can love what shines immediately. what turns heads. what demands attention just by existing. but it takes something softer, something rarer, to love the quiet things. the people who aren’t dazzling first glance but remember your favorite song. the people who stay. the people who love gently without asking to be admired for it. i think there is something beautiful about being chosen not for being extraordinary, but for being real. because roses are loved for a season. but leaves— leaves are what keep the whole tree alive.
