Shame on Sunwing. I was supposed to go to CDMX this Thursday (no travel advisory but feels sketchy going to Mexico with everything happening rn) and Air Canada gave me a full refund to my AC wallet, no questions asked.

It’s almost as if travel insurance exists for a reason. Your friend chose not to add travel insurance and now has to cancel according to the T&C of their reservation. It’s as easy as that. + if it’s still that bad closer to the travel date they’ll be able to modify their booking anyway

I had a trip booked to Italy in May of 2020 and when Covid hit the travel insurance we had bought said at first they wouldn't be issuing refunds because "global pandemic" wasn't on their list of cancelation reasons 🤦♀️

My coworker was going to a wedding. Not only did the company she used help them re-book to Dominican Republic, they gave them the same prices at the new resort for the couple and all the guests, which is normally double!

Sunwing in general has THE worst reputation of all the travel companies. They always have the worst room selection and overall just a dumpy experience. Not worth the small savings they often don’t even offer
