My bike cost only 29k and is new, from bike store … only the electric bike are expensive. Registration is ¥600 and insurance is ¥5k per year… easiest is buying at the store they will do all the registration and even give you full manual and rules

Was the easiest thing ever for me. Walked in, walked out with a bike after 35 mins. The guy knew what to do and did all the government registration and adjustments for me in literally under an hour. Guess it depends where you might live and who's doing it for you.

Note. Asahi cycle shop or a professional shop will register the bike for you. Also you need to have insurance even as a foreigner. I go to 7-11 that cost 3200 per year. But bikes are a major transportation so it’s worth it

You can get a regular bike for 25,000 or less though... what bike are you looking for? electric or high end? 150,000 is very high.
