controversial opinion maybe, but I feel like the anger is mostly due to embarrassment. 🤷♀️if I found out that the expensive vodka I prefer for my martinis was actually a cheaper version and I never noticed, I would laugh at myself for thinking I had a strong preference! I don't feel like this was done with any ill intention, otherwise he would have used it against her at some point in the last 8 years.

I remember seeing the original post on Reddit and seeing a comment that said something to the effect of "at that point that's not a preference that's an identity" and I felt that lol. on one hand, he probably should have told her. on the other hand, she didn't notice what coffee was in her house for EIGHT YEARS? It's just coffee and they're married, I'm sure they'll laugh about it down the line.

YTA. He lied to her for 8 years and presumed that he knew better than her what she wanted. Personally idc if it’s “just coffee” if I found out someone had been overriding my informed consent and lying to me about it for 8 years, I would never be able to trust that person again.

If this was me and my fiancé, I wouldn’t be mad? Like also 8 yrs makes it so much funnier to me? Like wdym I’ve actually been drinking dark roast for YEARS 😭 it wasn’t like he was buying it to spite her, she was saying how good it is! Maybe he just found a dark roast she likes but not ones from the store.

NTA. She never looked at the bags of coffee for 8 years? Whenever she drank it she never questioned it and even said it was good. At that point she just isn't willing to admit that she actually does like dark roast coffee if it isn't burnt.

the only thing I learned about coffee is if you brew it too hot is when it gets bitter, dark roast isn't bitter at home bc usually coffee makers at home brew at lower temps than commercial, so that's why a lot of coffee places have bitter coffee, it's burned, otherwise I don't drink it so I don't know nothin
