I remember when the compressed gas industry first learned that CO2 cylinders used in the beverage industry were being corroded inside when liquids like beer or pop water got back into the cylinder.
A cylinder in a paint plant in Canada blew straight up through the roof and came down in a different building. luckily no one was around when it happened. From that day forward we had to internally inspect all CO2 cylinders for corrosion.

When I worked at a government establishment in the 70s, we had a cylinder go through the workshop roof and land in an old ladies garden in the village.

Thats recoil, they could ha e just calculated moments of inertia and saved the gas.

I was hanging out with a mechanic buddy who had a side gig servicing high pressure air systems. He hit a call from a dive shop. An air cylinder had catastrophically failed (very very rare) while filling. Not caged. The cylinder went through two walls, through the floor, bounced of the concrete crawlspace floor, back through floor and lodged in another wall. Crazy power.
