That’s why rescue people have flotation devices with the save. By yourself there is a strong chance they will pull you down with them unless you are a strong swimmer. This man did the right thing

it doesn't matter if they are ungrateful, the only thing that matters is that they are now safe, I would gladly lay down my life to help others, because human lives matter more than anything else in this world. he did the best he could with what he was capable of doing and that is admirable.

Thats wild. Rule No.1 of water rescue is your own safety matters most Rule no.2 You should be VERY careful saving potential drowned individuals because due to irrationality they are likely to almost drown you trying to prevent themselves from drowning. The fact he did this WITHOUT a flotation device OR the ability to swim is a godsend.

forgive me for sounding like a jerk but why when it comes to women, our efforts aren't enough. your life was saved nonetheless and it was still not enough this ain't a movie not every man or woman knows how to swim. he may not have been able to swim but he still gave you 10 minutes and those 10 minutes saved your life.
