I’m on track to retire by 30 and if I had to start again, these are 5 things I’d avoid at all costs. If you’re working towards financial independence or just want more freedom with your money, save this one 👇 1️⃣ Taking advice from people who aren’t where you want to be Not every opinion deserves equal weight. If someone hasn’t achieved the outcome you’re working towards, I’d be very careful about letting their opinion determine your decisions. Learn from people who have actually done what you’re trying to do then think for yourself. 2️⃣ Filling my time with things that don’t move me forward There’s nothing wrong with entertainment, but if most of your free time is spent consuming gossip, scrolling endlessly or watching random content, don’t be surprised when your life stays the same. I’d rather spend some of that time learning, building, reading or exposing myself to ideas that make me think differently. 3️⃣ Being afraid to invest in myself When you’re trying to build wealth, it’s easy to think every dollar should be saved. But sometimes the highest-value thing you can spend money on is yourself learning a skill, improving your knowledge, building a business or becoming better at something that can increase your future earning potential. 4️⃣ Following one person’s playbook blindly I don’t think there’s one person who has every answer. Take the best ideas from different people, test them against your own situation and keep what actually makes sense for you. You don’t need to copy someone else’s life to build your own version of success. 5️⃣ Thinking only about the next few months One of the biggest advantages you can give yourself is time. I’d rather make decisions today that compound over the next 5–10 years than chase quick wins that look impressive for a few weeks. Think bigger. Think longer. And ask yourself: “Will the decisions I’m making today actually get me closer to the life I want?” That’s the mindset I’m using as I work towards financial independence and my goal of retiring by 30. #sydney #australia #aussie #australian
