I play Final Fantasy XIV, and in order to clear the high-difficulty content in the game, you need to learn the attacks the boss has, the patterns in which they deploy them, and the timings of them. And I cannot tell you how, after 3+ hours of learning a fight via playing the game and watching guides on YouTube, I will go to bed and not fall asleep until I hit my “prog point” (how far into the fight I’ve learned up to); only after I do it will my brain let me sleep.

when I was around 10-11 and used to have nightmares I would be able to wake up from them by moving a mouse cursor to the top right of the dream and hitting X and then I'd wake up lmao

i took part in a study where they let us(critical care workers) play Tetris while thinking about traumatic events during COVID. my nightmares and flashbacks went away and i was just dreaming about blocks for months 😂😂

I used to cycle everywhere at University. Riding one evening with my hands on top of the dropped handlebars, I instinctively glanced down to my mirror and seeing no threat behind I moved out - and nearly got hit by a bus. There was no mirror. No handlebars. No bike. I was walking and carrying two pizza boxes, that put my hands in that exact position... 😱😳

I was once trying to work out a guitar piece by ear, I'd found it really challenging and hadn't cracked it for years. One night, I'd been thinking about it and listening to it, failing to noodle around it, then went for a nap. In my dream, I could already play it, knew the tuning (dadgad but half a semitone down, presumably because of a slowed down recording or some tuning quirk), and another version of me basically taught me how to work it out. So, I woke up, grabbed the guitar and within 2 hours could pretty reasonably play a tune I couldnt even start for over a decade! Brains are weird
