My sister is allergic to sumac but thankfully not epi pen allergic. I however carry one because I’m extremely allergic to strawberries. Can’t breathe if I accidentally eat strawberries 😅

Fun fact: dust mite and shellfish allergies can similarly share reactions because of a shared protein. Hope you have a quick recovery!

really!! my kid has peanut/tree nut allergies but I used to give her sumac. I haven't been able to find it locally for a year or two now. I'm scared to reintroduce it now lol 😭

my sister has this issue with a lot of fruits. she’s very allergic to oak trees (ragweed) and she has to cook certain fruits to denature the proteins that mimic ragweed pollen.

Yes I have a nut allergy and found that out this year! Similar to cashew. Tried making some kubideh kabobs myself and added sumac for the first time. Felt off so I stopped eating after a few bites. Thought I was maybe imagining things lol

wow I had no idea I used sumac sometimes in chocolate and as a garnish for things so I will have this in the back of my mind forever I'm glad that you're doing much better now

Yes one time I accidentally at an orange seed and I had a full blown reaction. Apparently citrus seeds and cashews have the same protein structure

I’m allergic to cashews and pistachios BUT sumac is fine for me!! Also a couple Benadryl and the does the trick for me.. I always feel like a faker because i’m not severe enough for an epi?? Carried one when I was younger. Also I’ve never let a reaction get far enough to know if it’s deadly for me? But lips swell up and pins and needles all over body, so
