An interior designer is somebody who is paid to design or consult for clients. The idea that people (specially in the arts) need a certain degree is propaganda to me lol. There are plenty of people who run profitable business without a business degree, we still call them entrepreneurs.

in my opinion, if you don’t have an ID degree, certification, or at least worked for a design firm for a number of years you’re missing a lot of critical knowledge and can’t call yourself an ID. But that doesn’t mean you don’t have great taste and can put together a room! Love your aesthetic ♥️

I am an interior designer & I called myself that long before I got my certification, work experience & and started my business. While I have “credentials” imposter syndrome is still real at every stage. Sometimes you have to speak into existence what you want to be & drown out the noise of others. & it’s ok to change what you’re doing or what you’re interested in.

I think this comes down to what type of jobs you take and consult on. Being a certified interior designer does hold weight to me since they typically make 3D rendering that may be executed by architects. I’ve worked with Interior Designers and interior decorators, they are different

you’re more talented than the average interior designer so, there’s that. Just you do you and don’t worry about a title the cream rises to the top. Call yourself a creative consultant, which is broad, an umbrella term and could be used for any passion you pivot to.
