I never use mohair 😬 it will affect drape but mostly it’s a design preference not a need

Just because pattern calls for mohair, doesn’t mean you have to use it! You just need to make sure that with the Gilliatt you hit the gauge that the pattern calls for. Gilliatt is a woolen-spun yarn that will ‘bloom’ once wet, so make sure you wet and dry it before measuring the gauge!

I always treat mohair as a ‘nice to have’ rather than necessary - as long as your swatch meets gauge after you wet block you’ll be grand 👍🏻

If fuzziness is important to you, add a mohair, but you definitely don’t *need* to do that. One thing I will say is that mohair does prevent pilling so the finished product will probably hold up better with a mohair. Since gilliat is such a soft wool it also might pill more without a mohair.

Mohair helps with pilling and does give nice halo effect but it’s not a necessity. Do what feels right to you! :)

I noticed all three of your sweaters have been done in a superwash! Have you tried a non-superwash for clothing yet? I think you’ll love it! The drape and stretch is completely different!

Fuzz or no fuzz doesn’t affect the fit or shape of the cardigan so it’s totally personal preference. I actually don’t love mohair so I usually omit it when the pattern calls for it anyway. I really like the Gilliat grey and can confirm it’s a dream to knit with and wear but ultimately pick the colour that speaks to you because cardigans take time and it works be a shame to make something you’re not in love with 🥰

I’m making a Hanni cardigan right now! I like the darker grey, but if you prefer the feel, the lighter one looks cool too. Also, I’m learning how to sew and have made two pairs of Lane pants!

The green combo is PERFECT it’s sooo cute! The uniform color looks cuter for the cardigan. If you like the fuzzy yarn get it, but mohair is a suggestion imo

Knitting takes too long to be unsure about the result. The darker is definitely better for you because it’s what you want and I think it looks better. I know you’re excited to cast on, but you’ll second-guess yourself the entire process.

I like the dark grey one feels more versatile. Where the lighter one feels more marled.

i’d say go w the single strand gray! a lot of patterns will recommend mohair for the fuzzy look but it’s really just a suggestion you don’t need it!

If you used a light grey colored mohair i think it would lighten the color up! I like the swatch on the right and feel like the weight of mohair blends a lot better than the cashmere does?

i like the look of the marled with the lighter fuzzy yarn but if your goal is just to have plain gray, go with the other one! you don’t need the mohair

I just finished my Hanni cardigan! I swapped for a worsted weight yarn with no fuzziness to it and love it! Go with the colour you love 🥰

I’m doing my hanni cardigan in cascade 220. No mohair because I don’t want to double my yarn cost 😂. Go no mohair and follow your heart

I would do just the dark gray. It’s a cardigan, you don’t need it to be super soft! Also you don’t have to use mohair even if a pattern calls for it. I’m excited to see what you end up doing!

Is that the yarn citizen trinity cashmere? I’m also knitting the hanni cardigan right now and I feel like the swatch without the cashmere will look really nice! I’m knitting mine without mohair and I’m really happy with it so far :)

If your gut says use the Gilliatt without the fuzz you should do that. I personally think you should go with the just one yarn, it would look beautiful on you!!
