Check out the “Lost Creek Wilderness” topos in Colorado… the stream disappears for hundreds of yards than reappears. It’s a little canyon filled with house sized boulders and is very beautiful to hike through. You can be hiking through a decent size stream and it just disappears for periods. It’s quite amazing.

What we call them:
Cricks ditches that carry water after rain.
Creeks have running water after rain, and keeps puddles/pools year round.
Rivers have running water year round.
