@jayprehistoricpets: Two living fossils in one day😳🐢🐊 First up is the alligator snapping turtle and this guy is built different🙌 With that massive head, hooked beak, and ridged shell covered in spikes, he looks like something straight out of the prehistoric era🤯 These turtles are ambush predators and spend most of their time sitting completely still at the bottom of rivers and lakes👀 They open their mouth and wiggle that worm like lure on their tongue to attract fish, and the second a fish gets close it’s game over😳 That bite force is no joke and those powerful jaws are designed to crush prey instantly🔥 They grow slowly but can reach over 200 pounds and live for decades with proper conditions🙌Then we’ve got the baby gator and even at that size the instincts are already there😅 Baby American alligators are born with bold yellow bands that help camouflage them in vegetation, and as they grow those bands fade into darker tones🤯 They have armored scutes along their back, webbed feet for steering, and that muscular tail that does most of the swimming👀 Alligators continue growing throughout their lives and can reach over 13 feet depending on genetics and environment😳 Watching both of these species feed side by side really shows how different predators can evolve completely different strategies yet still dominate their habitats🔥
