@jayprehistoricpets: Baby Black Dragon on the move😳🐉 This little one is a melanistic form of the Asian water monitor and even at this size you can see the power building🙌 That deep black coloration comes from higher melanin levels and it only gets darker and more intense as they grow🤯 These monitors are incredibly intelligent and very food motivated, using their long forked tongue to constantly sample the air and pick up scent particles just like a snake👀 They have sharp curved claws for climbing and digging, a muscular tail that acts like a whip and helps them swim, and strong jaws built for crushing prey😳 In the wild they live near rivers, mangroves, and wetlands across Southeast Asia and grow fast with proper diet and space, sometimes reaching over 6 feet in length🙌 As juveniles they’re more agile and alert because everything sees them as prey, but as they bulk up they quickly become dominant predators and scavengers🔥 Watching a baby lock in on its food and show those natural instincts this early on is unreal because you’re literally seeing a future giant in the making🐉🔥
