It maintains an internal sense of seriousness and sincerity that allows the story to still have genuine stakes and thrills despite the fantastical plot.

in the fanfiction world we call this "Crack treated seriously", and basically it means when you put the characters in a ridiculous or very exaggerated situation and then have the characters play it out like its normal. its a very fun niche genre

To be a parody, the exaggeration has to be humorous, or an attempt at being humorous. I dont think most of those examples were supposed to be funny.

It takes itself too serious to be a satire. It may have some comedic lines but that dont cut it. If it was self aware like nobody is then it could be taken as a satire

I can understand why many don’t see the series as a parody/dark action comedy, mainly due to the so-called grim-dark movies and shows, incubated from the Nolan Batman trilogy and “Game of Thrones” but realized with Zack Snyder’s run on DC and TV shows seeking to mimic GoT’s brutal depiction of violence as if that’s what made the show popular.

Definitely not a parody. It’s ridiculous by design, but it takes that ridiculousness very seriously. The choreography, stunts and action are silly, yet expertly executed. The humor also balances out the nonstop action. It’s funny, fun, and crazy. Not what anyone would typically call a parody.

To me, it’s so exaggerated it’s almost at the level of a cartoon. Not exactly in the wacky slapstick. More that sense of unreality. If you explain it too much it’s like when the coyote walks off the cliff but doesn’t fall until he looks down.
