As someone who is a casual comic book. Holts Lex gives a good foundation for most of the actions that he takes against superman. BvS Lex just wants to see Superman fall but it comes off as a passing curiosity, a hobby at best. 2025 Lex is obviously consumed with his hatred and envy. It especially with the failure of Ultraman as a clone. It gives amazing groundwork to why despite having access to many meta humans, Lex decides to use his own DNA to make to clone that is supposed to defeat Superman which later on become Superboy. It's because he believes that his own intelligence can surpass any "weakness" that he perceives in Superman. I just don't see BvS Lex making the same decision.

my issue with the BvS Lex is that the speech they pick for him is like...the only good line he has in the whole movie imo. plus his presence on screen and acting overall just did not feel like Lex. I'd argue he didn't feel like he belonged in the movie as a whole

my biggest issue with BvS Lex is he has all these "God places himself higher/all good not all powerful" lines and philosophy, with a huge ego but also is shown to be cow-towing to Darkseid. A consistent characteristic of Lex across all media and elseworlds is he believes he is better/smarter/bolder than EVERYONE and takes any indication to the contrary as a personal challenge, whether it's Superman, the janitor or the frickin' Source Wall.
