I think too it’s scary the first time someone says “hey actually that’s not right…” because deep down you KNOW it isn’t, but you were hoping they would laugh along so you could keep justifying it. They KNOW it’s a bad relationship really, but they were secretly hoping you’d agree and help them justify

They have this “rescued dog” complex I call it. They don’t care about how 98% of the time he’s mean to her because the 2% he’s not makes them feel like they’re super special. Like when a really mean dog only likes one person and only wants to lay on the couch with them once a week or whatever. It’s a big reward for them and it makes them feel like they have more value and importance.

sometimes they fully believe they arent being treated badly and get aggressively defensive but sometimes I think they do know and they want help and want validation hes wrong and want him to see the bad comments but then defend him because they are scared/cant leave yet
