In the '60s it was the American surgeon general that reviewed thousands of peer-reviewed journals and then concluded that cigarettes were addictive and harmful. it was such a severe and nail in the industries coffin that they had to hire PR firms and purchasable research institutes to begin a multi-decade campaign of propaganda to undermine public confidence in medical and scientific institutions. now with the fossil fuel industry raising that kind of propaganda to an art form all we can do is go after the tobacco industry for misleading investors.
