The by-law enforcement operation continues in Tsakane today, and what we are finding is deeply concerning. In some streets, almost every second house has been converted into a business operation. Many of these premises are being used simultaneously as shops and living quarters, with makeshift sleeping areas, kitchens and sanitation facilities found on site. What is most alarming is the continued disregard for compliance requirements. Numerous businesses are operating without valid trading permits, while many individuals are unable to produce the necessary documentation required to legally be in this country. We support local economic growth and entrepreneurship. However, that support cannot come at the expense of public health, safety, town planning regulations and the rule of law. Zakhamuzi zethu, stop leasing your yards for spaza shops to illegal immigrants please. Our enforcement teams will continue their work. Compliance is not optional. Those who choose to operate within our communities must do so lawfully and responsibly!
