I was only 8 when she passed but remember the impact it had on the Latino community. It really felt like losing a family member. She had the biggest heart and such an incredible talent hence why we still remember her 30 yrs later. She’s an inspiration to millions and a global superstar. It saddens me she never got to see her own success and humbly denied her stardom when she was alive. A huge loss to the music industry and the world. I can’t imagine where she would be today had she been alive. 💜

I was 10 years old when she passed. We thought it was a joke bc April 1 was the next day then we saw the news 😭😭😭 it was horrible and I remember the news showing the standoff of her killer in the parking lot

She was my absolute favorite growing up. She's a hero to so many Latin American young girls. She put us on the map and helped us feel seen. I know all her songs. I got the pleasure of meeting her in Chicago with my parents as a child. She was beautiful inside and out. She was a light 💛. Her story is a perfect example of how your light can disrupt people's darkness. I miss her and I wish she was still here. Te quiero mucho Selena. 🌹 Descansa en paz.

I fully believe her father was afraid he'd loose his cash cow when she married Chris. he didn't want to see her married, have children, be happy. he wanted all her focus on making him more money.
