It is because kikuyu and maasai have preserved the original name of Sumerian God "Enki" Maasai call him Enkai and the Kikuyu call him "Ngai"

The reason Kikuyu are looking back to traditional spirituality is because they've faced a lot of chronic problems that are definitely solved by correction of missteps in their cultural practices ie dowry and traditional rituals etc that otherwise modern cultures and medicine has failed to heal, hence making them dig deep in the traditional culture. Land, cultural practices and Ngai are very connected in traditional spirituality.

I'm not a Kikuyu but Kikuyus always speak their own language no matter where they are, so the Kikuyu language will never be forgotten, where I come from we only speak Kiswahili and English to our children, so my language is dying off., who is to blame?.
