Storytime! I FORCED myself to cry?! ✨Recipe: Ingredients: • 1 large white onion • 3 cups all-purpose flour • 3 tbsp paprika • 2 tsp cayenne pepper • 2 tsp salt • 2 tsp black pepper • 2 tsp garlic powder • 4 eggs, beaten • 1 cup milk • ½ cup buttermilk • ¼ cup hot sauce (such as Frank’s RedHot) • Oil, for frying Directions: 1. Peel the onion and cut off the top. Place it cut-side down and carefully slice downward from the root into wedges, spacing cuts about ½ inch apart, being careful not to cut all the way through. 2. Gently separate the layers, then place the onion in ice water for 10 minutes to help it open up. Remove and pat completely dry. 3. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, paprika, cayenne, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. 4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, buttermilk, and hot sauce. 5. Coat the onion in the flour mixture, making sure to get between all the layers. Shake off excess, then dip into the wet mixture, again coating thoroughly between each wedge. 6. Repeat the flour and wet coating one more time for a thicker crust, then place the onion in the freezer for 30 minutes to set the coating. 7. Heat oil to 350°F in a deep pot. Carefully place the onion into the oil and fry for 6–8 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. 8. Remove and drain on a wire rack or paper towels. 9. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce and enjoy this crispy, pull-apart appetizer!
