@kayli.kiing: Tips for keeping your clothes less smelly and where I got everything listed below 👇🏼👇🏼 Alright let’s talk about smell first… To start, natural fibers >> synthetic fibers Natural fibers (linen, merino wool, bamboo, etc) Synthetic fibers (polyester, nylon, acrylic) The natural fibers will breathe more and are going to hold onto odors less than a synthetic fiber. Merino wool is my top pick as you can wear those items for DAYS on end without noticing a smell at all. Yes, natural fibers are more expensive but they are an investment that will last longer than the alternative options. Another note, don’t leave your clothes crumpled on the floor overnight. I have noticed that it helps immensely to flip them inside out and hang them up to air overnight. Bonus points if you can find a spot to air them out outside, and any time in the sun will help immensely. I recently bought some merino wool bras and underwear from @branwynofficial and am super stoked to try those out because I’ve been searching for good merino base items for what feels like forever. Thanks @kellienicole for posting about them!! Now for the clothes I brought on this trip… “Jeans”: @ripton_co Women’s Twill Utility Pant Romper: @freepeople Hot Shot Romper Turtlenecks: random/thrifted (I did recently get a merino black turtleneck from @unboundmerino ) Black waffle knit: thrifted Jean button ups: thrifted Black puffy jacket @cotopaxi Fuego (no hood) Socks: @darntoughvermont and @smartwool Shoes: @blundstoneusa Rustic Black Chelsea Boots Hooded scarf: hand knit via Sophie Hood pattern Since the first part of this trip was to ski, I had base layers, outerwear gear and snow boots that were only used for that portion! #packwithme #minimalistpainting #onebagtravel

I need someone who has owned blundstones for years to tell me whether the recent models are worth it. The leather feels so thin!

Once I tried to “pack light” and re-wear some items… I spilled coffee on myself in the airport and took out half my wardrobe and had to go buy more clothes when I got there 🙄

It makes me real sad how much people don’t understand the difference between synthetic and natural fibers, particularly Marino wool.

Guys chill out merino is naturally antibacterial, it literally can go weeks without smelling and it’s not groundbreaking either, sheep have been rocking it for their whole existence? 😅 our clothes smell because they’re made of synthetic materials that are essentially like wrapping your body in plastic and trapping all bacteria against your skin. We were sold synthetic materials because they’re cheap. The only reason you don’t see this in everything is because it costs more than a few dollars to produce and that kills margins for fashion brands.

Dude, I'm coming back to this video for the second time because I feel like the hate isn't warranted. This is a great idea and the only thing that I would do differently is pack a set of gym/sleep clothes. As a big dude I need a set to wear while hitting laundry probably a tad more often. I'd also like to add foreign laundry mats are a great experience in how a culture lives.

I simply could not. I would end up hating both of the base things on my first day then spend every single day miserable and overstimulated lololol

This is the way. people bring way too many clothes while traveling. It's all about bringing the ~right~ clothes. The right materials and layering / interchangeability options are what you really need. Wool especially is clutch. I bring a very small bar of clothes soap with me and hand wash anything that's needed for the next day if it really needs it

Hi! I really don’t want to come off rude, but please be considerate when you come to japan especially when it comes to hygiene and smell. In general people do think white people/foreigners stink… esp. compared to us, (just biology) so you might be contributing to the stereotype with this.
