Sad thing is for most of us GenX, we can list all of the jobs we’ve had in our adult life, and the list will still be shorter than folks who entered the workforce in the last 5-10 years! I’m only on my 4th job in 35 years! 1st was 7 years. 2nd was because manager of 1st changed jobs and took me with him, another 7 years. Got recruited while still at 2nd job to 3rd job and I was there 15 years! Laid off, and now in year 6 of job #4.

I beg to differ, as a GenX who is currently applying for jobs and has only cited my most recent job, they have QUESTIONS! it's not necessary for me to list every single job I've held since 1985, but if I don't they want to know what I've been doing since 1985

At my last job, my manager told HR not to bother with me and my bro... we were "never gonna change anyway, but they do the jobs no one else will touch with a 10 foot pole, and the only people they are yelling obscenities at are each other." Later, when the manager started working for another company... he recruited both of us within 16 months.

I can’t talk if serious or joking. So, let’s just talk about what a resume is supposed to be. A resume is a summary of your work experience. Why would a summary need everything? I’m not saying you are right or wrong about listing every single job in your resume. I’m terrible at resumes. I haven’t created a new one in a decade. As best I can tell the rules of resume writing are the same as Who’s Line is it Anyways - “Where everything's made up and the points don't matter”

My CPA used to hate doing my taxes, I work in construction (38 years) some years I would work for 7 different companies in 10 different states and file long form to get all my deductions 😂😂😂
