@beccakate29: Teenagers, if you're watching this. Embrace the cringe. Be loud. Be bold. Your teachers miss it. #teacherthoughts #teacherrant #genzvsmillenial #teachersoftiktok #teacherhumor
Because everyone is so worried about being criticized and what others think of them….

This year is the first year our high school has banned phones (they have to put them in pouches and they are locked) teachers have reported students have started talking and opening up again!!

Not a teacher, just a mom with kids from 23 to 11. I feel like kids aren’t allowed to be kids anymore. I think they are pushed too hard by everyone in society to grow up too fast.

Listen, as a teacher, I’m funny enough for all of us 🤣🤣… but I never thought about it until I saw this. If we’re laughing, it’s because I’ve told a joke…. I’m gonna collect more data on this and I’ll report back.

I believe it’s due to the amount of adult geared content they are consuming. They lost the ability to socialize and be “kids”. Also the amount of bullying. Everyone is so offended today! I have 3 boys, 23, 20 and 16…they are hilarious and I am thankful they know how to have fun. They also need to put the phones down!

YES!!! And they can’t take a joke. The “funny” ones are just silly and/or meanz

I had a class where I would literally be in TEARS and my face would be sore from smiling. This was about 9 years ago. Still think about it. One of the best years of my teaching career and I yearn for that again.

I think we’ve lost entertainers because they are all used to being the audience.

PHONES!!!! I would agree to a certain extent but I teach ED (they don’t care what others think) and don’t allow phones so there’s usually never a dull moment in my room.

Mrs. Stew Explains School :
Quick wit isn’t disappearing — it’s undertrained. You can’t raise a generation on curated posts, screenshot culture, constant adult mediation, and algorithm-fed humor… then expect live verbal agility. Wit grows in unscripted conversation, debate, boredom, and a little social friction. If everything is structured and edited, spontaneity doesn’t develop.

My son’s school punishes being funny and being outrageous and creative by calling the deans to remove the student. How do I know this since I’m a washed up 40 yr old hag? My son is the class clown and often removed 🤦🏻♀️

I think some of it is also that kids aren’t allowed to be kids anymore. I am an elementary teacher, and kids aren’t given time to develop social skills like they use to. As a teacher in FL also we are testing 3xyear at 4yo. They have to be quiet in the cafeteria. There is no more kids being kids and socializing.

Being in highschool from 2005-2009…..ALWAYS laughing, someone always cracking jokes and getting put in the hall….or then not being able to look at anyone without laughing haha….this makes me so sad it’s not like that anymore. I have a teacher friend that I’m going to ask this too now!
