Shanice Sharika :
In the scene where John, Michaela, and Francesca build the puzzle together, Francesca suggests that one of them should put the last piece in, as they both did so much of the puzzle. John proposes he should do it since he completed the ground, but Michaela then says that she did the sky, and "you can't have one without the other." John and Michaela then place the piece together, and that moment is very symbolic.
John represents the ground – stability, peace, and the foundation of Francesca's first experience with love. He's the steady presence that made Francesca feel secure. Michaela, on the other hand, is the sky – expansive, intense, and full of possibility (John comments on how there is a lot of sky in the puzzle). She'll bring a different kind of passion to Francesca's world.
The scene signifies that it takes both John and Michaela to "complete" Francesca – they're equally necessary and important to her love journey, even if they occupy different spaces in her life. Without either, her journey would be incomplete!!!
