This is a lesson. ALWAYS take the PTO. It’s part of your pay.

Everyone in corporate America should be worried. Doesn’t matter how good you are, how hard you work, you are just a number on a spreadsheet.

I’ve been laid off three times. Here’s what I learned to lower the bills: 1. Call your utility company and let them know you no longer are employed. They will greatly reduce your rate and put you in a payment plan. 2. Don’t hesitate to enroll in snap benefits. Because the process is long- think what your living situation would look like in 3 months on unemployment. 3. Always keep the door open with your old employer. If you have contacts, continue to network with them. Sometimes companies will rehire a laid off worker. 4. Some states have healthcare plans for unemployed people, look into it. 5. If you have student loans, let them know you aren’t working and they almost always pause them. 6. Call your credit card companies and let them know (if you foresee it becoming an issue). They will often give you a grace period or work with you to reduce the monthly. 7. Meal plan like crazy. 8. Do NOT feel shamed if you need to file for bankruptcy. There are more people doing it than you think and it’s likely your credit will recover within a year or two. 9. Keep your head up. Long unemployment can cause depression pretty quick. Just like any job- take time for yourself. Good luck!!🍀

We put too much importance in our jobs. It’s ONLY what we do to earn money. Not who we are.

We are all one budget meeting away from getting laid off. Effort, aptitude, talent - none of it makes you immune to a pink slip.

see and this is why the argument that hard work pays off isn't true. companies don't treat people like they used to.
