In a statement Wednesday, the organization said it “condemns today’s unlawful termination of FBI Special Agents,” arguing that the dismissals — along with other recent actions by Patel — violate due process protections for bureau employees. “These actions weaken the Bureau by stripping away critical expertise and destabilizing the workforce,” the association said, adding that the moves could harm recruitment efforts and undermine national security. The Justice Department had investigated Trump over both his retention of classified materials and alleged efforts to challenge the 2020 election results. Obtaining communications from individuals in Trump’s orbit was a standard investigative step in such cases.
