@meghannmcuniff: Katie Richins-Benson's brother, Eric, died in March 2022, and his wife is accused of poisoning him with fentanyl. Richins-Benson testified on Monday as the second prosecution witness in Kouri Richins' aggravated murder trial at the Silver Summit Justice Center near Park City, Utah. She described Kouri's demeanor after Eric died, and said she was "dumbfounded" by Kouri's decision to buy a mansion in Midway. "I looked at Kouri and said, 'You can't tell me you're going to close on that Midway mansion when my brother just died.' And she looked at me, matter of fact, and said, 'Yeah, absolutely. He has nothing to do with it. The money's already gone through. It's all my business. I'm going to,'" Richins-Benson testified on Monday (February 23). Richins-Benson also testied that Kouri said she was selling ttheir home on Willow Court in Kamas "Did anything about that strike you as odd?" asked Brad Bloodworth, the chief criminal prosecutor in Summit County. "Yes. I honestly could not function. I couldn't even figure out, like what was for dinner that night. I had just lost one of the most important people in my whole entire life, and she was planning on selling the house that he had just been wheeled out of, closing on a multimillion dollar mansion. I could not wrap my head around it," Richins-Benson answered. Bloodworth asked who owned the home when Eric died. "When Eric died, the house belonged to Eric. Eric was the trustee of his trust. So the house was in a trust, and Eric was the trustee," Richins-Benson answered. "And then, once he died, who became the trustee?" Bloodworth asked. "I became the trustee," Richins-Benson answered. "After Eric died, did Kouri Richins have the ability to sell the house?" Richins-Benson answered. "No, she did not," Richins-Benson answered. Background: Kouri Richins, 35, is accused of fatally poisoning her husband, Eric Richins, with fentanyl at their home in Kamas, Utah, in March 2022. After he died, she self-published a children's book she authored titled "Are You With Me?" about coping with grief. Eric Richins, 39, was found dead in their home on March 4, 2022. Prosecutors allege Kouri dropped a lethal dose of fentanyl in a Moscow Mule cocktail she prepared for him. They say she was motivated by money because she owed nearly $5 million to lenders and had changed her husband's life insurance policies prior to his death while also taking out a home equity line of credit without his knowledge. She also was in a romantic relationship with another man. Prosecutors allege she previously tried to murder him by poisoning his sandwich on Valentine's Day 2022, which her husband told a friend about. #law #crime #court #news

This woman is grieving and angry. I’d like to see how others would handle this situation. Give her a little grace.

I am not defending Kouri but if you pull out of a sale the day before closing you’re losing a ton of money and maybe getting sued.

Mannnn I’m ngl I was convinced the wife did it until I seen this. No ma’am, this testimony feels more like her own personal vengeance toward the wife outside of his death. RIP to your brother 💔😢

I don’t think it’s right for someone to tell someone else how they should feel. Just because you felt a certain type of way doesn’t mean she has to feel that way.
