Don’t rely on your car alarm for safety. My mom and I were in a state park and in the middle of the night I accidentally set my alarm off. No one did anything to make sure we were okay. It was 3am.

I have been solo camping for over 10 years. The most important thing I’ve learned is to always trust your gut. If ANYTHING feels off, move spots or scrap the trip. You aren’t being paranoid. We were given intuition for a reason

Solo female car camper here! years of experience under my belt and I fully agree with all of your advice. I do all of this but it makes me rethink my path to the driver's seat. do I do that? idk. I need to practice and perfect that! thanks for that!!

Biggest tip, trust your gut! If you feel like it’s sketchy, then find somewhere else. Also, more people ≠ safe. I find the more remote, the better.

i also sleep backwards from what i see everyone else. with my feet near the seats and my head near the back window. so i can easily slide into my driver seat. but my set up is a little elevated so it makes more sense for me.
