It’s a sad state to see my family in, the hope for the end times is the only thing that keeps them going. The south is a barren hell, but it’s just comfortable enough that the people there are content with waiting for a promised heaven, rather than struggling to change things.

Take it a step further: think about all the places in the Midwest that used to have thriving industries but now are basically run down because opportunities left. Without any economic opportunity, they are well on their way to that same level of poverty within a generation or two if they’re not already there
