@trailhaven: 🏔️ Warner Fire Lookout 📍 Willamette National Forest, Oregon 🌿 Amenities include a pit toilet, electricity, heat, and a cooking station (no running water—bring your own) 🚘 Drivable to the gate in good weather and a .3 mile walk from there. In winter be prepared to hike 2-10 miles depending on snow conditions. Sleeping in an old fire lookout will completely change the way you think about the backcountry. These towers are available for the public to rent. I get asked all the time how to book them since they always seem sold out. My best tips: check for cancellations often, pay attention to when the lottery opens, and be flexible with weekdays. That’s the secret.
