when i was told by a doctor that i was paralyzed i didn’t even know what that meant. i immediately thought it would only be temporary and honestly didn’t think of it again and focused on my recovery. it wasn’t until months later that it actually hit me that this is what my life is going to look like now. in this video of me in the icu, i realized i had no feeling and you can see it on my face when i was expecting to feel the dog touch me and i didn’t. a million thoughts started rushing through my mind like i can’t hold anyone’s hand and feel it, or touch and feel grass, or play in sand again…the list goes on of the little things i took for granted. it was just so hard knowing that i was just able to do these things months prior and it made me bitter because i had thought for weeks after everything was going to be okay. i didn’t even know what it meant to be paralyzed or how it even happens. when i was ready to hear it i learned i broke bones in my neck and my spinal cord went with them and that's when i started to understand the severity of this. i thought i would be in the hospital for a few months or maybe a year and then be back to my old life. i was disassociating for months and waiting for a miracle to wake up one day, walk, and return to all my activities. but that never happened and that expectation led me to years of disappointment and frustration. i am just now finally seeing a glimmer of a positive out of all this and so i will continue to share what i can of my story to hopefully inspire anyone to just own your life and make it the best you can. have an amazing day today💝💝💝
