depending on the depth of damage into the small end scaling diameter a good log scaler would not pull out those logs

out here on the west coast we have a saying " Bucking for the $ " lot's of people call themselves Faller's but to be able to read your tree and see where to buck it each log where they will bring you the most $ per log is a whole different story....a lot of cutters just go and buck as many long logs as they can out of each tree...yeah it might be a preferred length, but not necessarily a buck that will bring you the most $ out of that log
