I change my oil every 3 months (usually haven’t even driven 3,000 miles) full synthetic. I allow my car like 2-3 minutes to warm up, let those RPMs go down and everything sounds like it’s settled and ready to go.

With so many dissimilar metals and dissimilar materials in a car engine, for example, cast-iron block, aluminum heads or vice versa, plastic components, it's really important in my estimate, that everything comes up to temperature so that all of the as built tolerances are now in place at that temperature. If you just start and run for a minute because now the oil circulating, you're going to have any surface where there are two disimilar materials start to leak once you start to exert pressure on that engine. I'm all for idling at least five minutes so that you get closer to the as built temperature for all of the similar materials in your engine. This is for cold climates or cold starts on a cold day.
