When I moved to Italy alone, didn't speak the language, and was in the middle of the hardest spiritual awakening of my life... the last thing l expected was to feel lonely. I had chosen this. I had chosen to leave. To rebuild. To heal. And Italy was giving me so much - the land, the olive trees, the stillness, the food, the slow mornings that felt like medicine after 15 years of running on empty in LA. But there was something I couldn't find there. Something I didn't even know how to look for. Women who understood what this felt like. The shedding. The becoming. The strange grief of leaving a life that no longer fit. The exhilaration and the terror of building something completely new from the ground up. I wanted sisters. Not just friends. Sisters. The kind who sit with you in the hard parts without trying to fix them. The kind who are asking the same questions you are. The kind who make you feel less like you're going crazy and more like you're just waking up. And then I started hosting retreats in Italy. And I watched something magical happen over and over again. Women would arrive as strangers. Within days they were sharing things they had never said out loud to anyone. They were finding each other in a way that most of us spend our whole lives searching for. And then they'd go home. And my heart would break a little every time. Because they'd message me weeks later saying they missed the women on the retreat more than they expected. That they'd never felt so seen.
