It has been 4 years since 2022, and no one has consistently landed it in competition. And I believe we won’t see another one for many years to come.

I grew up watching skating. double jumps ahhhed about. the. the triples came. and some were superb!! some failed. then came the rumors of quad jumps. then Ilia competed and tge only one that can do all 6 jumps in single double triple and quad!!! he will be doing a quint soon!!!

He also was recorded jumping up to a height of 2'9" to land it. Thats higher than most top NBA player's vertical jump. Sports science analysts couldnt even figure out how he is able to stablize his body midair because theoretically he shouldn't be able to due to spinning so fast and G forces. They just assume he must compensate with absurd levels of core strength. And since it is an axel the takeoff is far more difficult to control compared to the other quads which are already so so difficult. There is one skater in Russia who has landed a quad axel in practice but he struggles to get it fully roated and clean. He also said that when he practices it his body hurts so bad the next day that he struggles to jump triples. He also said he could never really put it in a program because he would be too exsausted to finish the program after jumping it. Ilia's quad axel is bigger and fully rotated. He is able to do it in competition and have the stamina not only to finish but to then proceed to do backloaded quad jumping combinations cleanly in the 2nd half of his program on tired legs to get bonus points (something that no one else is doing because its so exsausting and difficult). And there are videos of him landing clean fully rotated rippon quad axels!! (the rippon version is harder because it alters the center of gravity). There are videos of him landing it in combination after and before other quads in practice for fun. A video of him landing a quad lutz (2nd hardest quad most people will never be able to that one) and then a quad axel in combination! A video of him landing 2 quad axels in combination! Videos of him doing it from different entrances such as the spread eagle to make it harder. Its absolutely wild. Like there are no words. The fact that anyone can do it all is wild but the fact that he is so good at it that he can experiment with it and make it harder for fun is just mindblowing. This is why Ilia has said things like the backflip is simple and easy. Because for him it is. Its among the simplest and easiest things he does in his programs.

Ещё и траектория компактная, после захода не особо изменилась,т.е. точка отступа, точка толчка и точка приземления имеют минимальное расстояние друг от друга , типичная параболическая форма , которая должна была образоваться в полёте, более близка к проведённому визуально перпендикуляру,по сравнению с прыжками других фигуристов Из-за инерции его тело в любом случае не может оставаться в одной точке и даже с такой техникой у него немного оно должно наклоняться и растягивать траекторию(уточняю для тех, кто ожидает сверхестественное) Четверной аксель требует колоссальную силу толчка и набора необходимой скорости, из-за чего сложнее сохранить вертикальное положение в воздухе, но он справляется с центробежной силой Это показатель его отточенной техники и максимального владения своим телом Ещё если учесть, что аксель исполняется с движения лицом вперёд ,можно понять, насколько нелегко так точно координировать своё тело и приземлиться, не нарушив равновесие

Technically untouchable. Yuma gave the free skate of his life at World's. Ilia just goes out and does 5 quads, difficult quads in combination and wins by 23. Ilia stayed conservative in that skate, a smart move. 💥
