From a logistics standpoint the cream tends to be more robust than jam so it’s easier lay the clotted cream as a strong foundation and add the jam on top. Try some blackcurrant jam next!

Cream first not only tastes better, but it's also a much better base for construction. Jam first just makes cream slide all over the place when spreading it

Noooooooo jam first , it gives good adhesion for the cream on top , and its the Cornish way. Cream on first is just wrong. And its good to hear you pronounce scone properly.
