to much pressure on the springs that tension the arm. most of them are adjustable so it can handle various weights.

I have the same monitor arm and it looks like the lower piece on yours is installed upside down. the cable channel should be on the underside,

you have to loosen the springs in it it's cuz it's new and your monitor isn't that heavy (your stand can probably handle quite heavy monitors
