I just ignore the exercise calories given- I look at hitting just the number I have set. 1500

In most apps, you can turn the exercise addition off. I never factor exercise into my calorie deficit. Food only. Any greater deficit I get from exercise is just icing on the cake.

I've noticed that the app I like to use tells me that my calorie deficit is what all the calculators say would be a maintenance level for me... so I set my own calorie limit.

I have mine set to not add my activity level calories back in, but it still shows my expenditure. Some days I burn way more calories and I don’t want to be in a 700 deficit so I know to eat a little extra those days

Wait...but what if, like me, you set your activity level as low in the app but have been increasing exercise since. Does that not count? 🤔

So the solution is to not track your exercise through your app?

OK, I’ll average with workouts are roughly burn 2300 to 2500 cal a day. So I usually eat around 1800 cal would that be correct?

This is why I love Macrofactor. It only does calories in and scale/trend weight for your expenditure.

I honestly don’t understand why anyone tracks exercise when there’s no true ability to know calories burned. It just becomes one more thing to track and more confusing

Using Macrofactor as many powerlifters recommended it, and so far so good!

well dont we naturally burn calories too? so we have our normal day to day activity. walking at work and our resting burn. so we can be in a cal deficit without exercise. then exercise cuts more off. bigger deficit. I see what youre saying, but math doesnt work like that. even if you ate back what you worked off, if your calorie limit was already in a deficit, it would still be losing weight

I use Lose it and you can turn off the option to subtract the calories that you use from working out.

i do it old school, weigh everything and just add up with the calculator. it's super easy basic math, and then just log it in the Samsung health app to keep track

The calorie tracking app I use has a way to turn off that so I love my tracking app for that reason

For users of MyNetDiary, there is a setting in the “Me” tab, “My Weight Goal & Plan”, scroll down to “Exercise“ and turn it off. Guessing other apps may have this feature as well.

PSA: You can set Cronometer to sedentary and then add your activity w/ your wearable or manually, to avoid this
