I understand your take on this & completely agree some folks need better discernment when it comes to relating certain actions to a specific planets nature. & the biggest confusion many people who don’t understand astrology is their first instinct is to “believe or have a “belief” on the topic. I always say astrology isn’t a belief system but a language, it uses science & math but most of all it’s a pattern recognition we’ve used for ancient of times to better conclude repetitive patterns to our timeline. Truthfully it’s how we navigated our earth when we didn’t have a gps or even maps. Mercury retrogrades is too repetitive that it goes over peoples heads when it comes around, we experience around 3 Mercury retrogrades per year compared to any other planet & yes it has its characteristics but trust me you take everything w a grain of salt w this stuff bc it’s sm more complexed & intertwined to how it shows up for everyone individually! As someone who’s gon to the depths of rabbit holes understanding our cosmic nature I have accepted that two things can be true!

as a young adult who went through a pretty back breakup a few years back, astrological claims like these almost sent me into psychosis waiting for the signs. it was horrible.

I have used Astrology to help navigate my mental health journey. I had a lot of problems to overcome and Astrology gave me a plan in a way to take little steps and change things more organized way. But I always make sure to not get attached to it and stay open minded

In Vedic thought, which is pretty much baked into Hindu culture, the planetary archetypes literally are linked to the divine energies which sustain us, and impel action. They are anthropomorphized into Vedic and Hindu deities for propitiation as a remedial measure for karmic transgressions. You can't go to a Hindu temple and not have an altar dedicated to the navagrahas. Also astrology is linked to timing for Vedic Rituals and auspicious undertakings. So while I agree with your claim that pop astrology has taken it over the deep end, there is a deeper spiritual aspect in some circles that can't be quite as easily deconstructed. Whether you believe that, or not...is another subjective discussion. In my professional experience in the 6 years of doing consultations, not only does good astrology create a tool for self-knowledge, but also to propel us deeper into spiritual practices, linking us to cosmic forces and finding our place in the universe. Supporting empirical evidence to support this seems impractical based on the number of variables due to complexity, and metaphysical considerations that can't be isolated into controlled data. My two cents.

i don't agree cause Western astrology is tropical based in hindu astrology it's sidereal based and we use constellations over sign . star lord > house lord > sign /planet. you should check out

Where can I see this study more in-depth? I’m curious what type of house system the astrologers were given. Also, I feel that astrology reveals our personal archetypes kind of like a blueprint, but our free will largely determines where we go.

I do agree there is a fine line. But if someone were to take astrology “too far” into religion territory… I still don’t think it’s nearly as problematic or could really be compared to something like Mormonism or evangelical Christianity…

I gain a lot of creative and introspective inspiration from astrology. I enjoy following the journey of the planets and their interactions and speculating on the archetypal nature of those combined “energies” - but at the end of the day my astrology practice is more of a journaling exercise than a spirtual belief

And Mercury in retrograde isn’t even an actual planetary movement. Planets don’t change direction, they move in perpetual (from a human point of view, anyway) elliptical orbits. “Retrograde motion” is only the way it appears from our little terrestrial perch.
