@calderdune: The Tragedy of Paul Atreides as described by Frank Herbert. Wanted to put together a video about Paul, and the depth of how “stuck” he really is, and how Dune 3 can use that. Please stay until the end, I share my favorite passage from the book with some personal footage:) I apologize for my contested voice im coming off a week of being crazy sick! 🎵: Places - Alaskan Tapes #dune #denisvilleneuve #movies #scifi #frankherbert
Really scared for the 3rd movie, I do not think the general audience will truly understand that he is not meant to be the hero

“he wanted to flee from his own mind, it was a beast come to devour him.” this is written so beautifully. We all have that beast in our head that attacks us. Until the day come where we face our beast and tear it to shred. Will we then be free?

i haven’t read the books but i’ve seen fans talk about how the movie doesn’t show us casuals how tragic paul is. but i feel like the end of the first act of dune 1 is when i saw it. paul was pushed by everyone but his father to be something. when his father died and the war started he lost his last chance to truly have agency over his own story.

i've red it in my native language so i can't quote the book in english, but I think one of the scenes in the book that struck me the most was when at the end of book 1 Paul sees the way Gurney and Stilgar look at him and realizes that he gained disciples but lost friends in his way to power.

“Swallowed by his own image” ; beautiful, I love this description of the destructive impact that this idea of who Paul is takes away from who he can become with his own free will. Not what others planned or sought for him

Paul Atreides is a slave to his destiny. I love how he was portrayed and written in the books. Read the series at work when I was bored and just could not touch any books for about a year after I finished this series.

“Greatness is a transitory experience. It is never consistent. It depends in part upon the myth-making imagination of humankind. The person who experiences greatness must first have a feeling of the myth he is in…” - Frank Herbert

You should keep ending your videos with passages from the books. I think your narration is really good.

Ik it’s been said before but I think the general audience is not ready for where the story’s going. If they have no concept of the books then they might be mad with how his story ends
