I'm so glad I got into Gintama early + no one spoiled/told me that it was going to be serious. I went in seeing that it's comedy, kept going for hundreds of episode bcs I genuinely like Japanese humor. When the serious arc first appeared I was genuinely shocked. At that point I was already attached to the silly goofy characters y'know? Wdym they can be serious? Wdym some of them dies??? That's why for people who don't know Gintama has some serious arcs in it, the first hundred episodes are considered a trap. It's giving you a false sense of comfort 🥲
