In our 1865 family home there was a sitting room, parlor, dining room, kitchen on the first floor. There were pocket doors between the sitting rm, dining and parlor. Door in dining rm to kitchen and door to hallway/stairs. Much different than this.

People decided that working in the kitchen while everyone else was playing in other rooms sucks, so ya, the "open concept " became very popular and people tore walls down, as for the rest of it this person is obviously pretty well off way upper middle class probably and of course it all depends on how much money you have and how much house you have
