I’m an x-ray student graduating in May and just recently got to help with HSGs. If anyone cares, HSGs are performed using fluoroscopy which is a type of x-ray that captures dynamic images (as opposed to still images). The doctor performs the exam and the x-ray tech helps set everything up and helps use the fluoroscopy equipment. The liquid used is a contrast agent which shows up white on the x-rays. If the contrast goes through the tubes, your tubes are not blocked. Sometimes just one tube is blocked, sometimes both. It’s typically a super quick process but many find it uncomfortable or painful. I’m sorry you had to go through that❤️I find it very rewarding being able to help people find comfort in knowing they can have kids. Luckily, I haven’t had a patient with blocked tubes yet but there are things that can be done to try to open the tubes up even if the tubes are blocked so that’s always reassuring

Just an fyi in case they didn’t tell you if you are not trying to get pregnant please be careful doing intercorse right now as these rest make your tubes flow real good and can make it a lot easier to get pregnant

I had one done and my doctor looked at me surprised and dumb founded🤣 I was already experiencing severe pain most days anyway so me just chillin he asked if I was okay. Told him yeah just a normal day lol🤣

I had this done a few weeks ago and my doctor was like wow you took that like a champ.. uhh thank you I think🤣 it was definitely painful and even after the feeling was awful. I just watched your other videos so glad everything came out good!!

When I had it done, they couldn’t get the flexible catheter to go in because of the angle of my cervix so they had to use a “rigid metal catheter” and SHOVE IT THROUGH and girl let me tell you 😭 I was SCREAMING 😭😭

It’s so disgusting that procedures like this that are obviously so incredibly painful (going off your word and all the other ladies who also had it done in your comments) are done on women without anything to help with the pain.

Are you going to take legal action? Between the medical charges and the physical pain, (just to confirm what your own charts, doctors, and nurses can’t) and the emotional distress you endured in labor and postpartum being told repeatedly you were getting/did get sterilized- you deserve compensation.

It is HARD to pronounce, or spell, a lot of medical terms! Break them down like this picture. Its how we learned to do it in med classes. I still struggle with words like the actual word for BP cuff. Like we ALL got those med terms that we hate pronouncing & spelling. So sorry you are hoing through thos. hope your lawyers get you some compensation for it all.

I’ve had an HSG and i can confirm it was 100% the most painful thing i had felt DOWN there, anyway. I haven’t had kids so maybe the pain tolerance will differ after the fact. But the after cramps are so SORE!

I have had two… one after an ectopic pregnancy and one to see if the tube was still blocked from scar tissue - it was and essentially I lost the tube but they are so very painful!

Omg mine hurt SO BAD when I got mine done, never again 😭 no amount of painkillers helped. My poor cervix felt so violated for a few days afterwards.

I had mine done last year. It was the worst experience I have ever went through, and I also cried on the table. I squeezed the nurses hand so hard and I’m shocked I didn’t break it. My primary Doctor was pissed that they didn’t give me anything for the pain and that they only told me to take ibuprofen. Oh and I cried the entire way home.
