1 of my clip was not removed. I had to go back in for another surgery!! it was a pain but well worth it to get the known cancer removed.

I had a clip put in and it is permanent as it shows where exactly your tumour was so they can see it on further mamagrams I live in uk

Not the clips left during biopsies that did not have a positive biopsy, correct? I have a couple in there from several biopsies after dcis and lumpectomy.

Working in surgical pathology we see this sometimes... if we don't see those clips we go get the specimen x-rayed if we still don't see it, it's put in the report in bold letters

I am a PA in pathology - our job is to dissect the tissue for the pathologist. We MUST find all clips in the specimen and dictate them in our report. You are correct. It should be in the report either in the gross description or final diagnosis.

What about clip migration? Especially if it were a MR Bx. We seem to have a large percentage of our patients with migration. Depending on how far the clip migrated, it can be ok!

I appreciate your explanation. I just had a second smart clip (4th clip inserted in me) yesterday. I will name sure I see that 4 were seen after my double mastectomy on march 11th. thank you

They left a heart shaped one I'm going to ask the hospital that left it will pay for the MRI needed. What are your thoughts do you think they might? They also left a high-risk lesion

Clips can migrate occasionally… But the protocol at our facility is the surgeon brings the specimen over while the patient is still on the table and I do a mammo pic on it so we can see the clips

I did a biopsy like 6years ago and they put this clip I still have clip but had a negative is it dangerous to still have this metal in my breast

I have a top hat clip - they said it was okay. The ultra sound tech said it was okay before the biopsy. She also has several clips in her breast. The radiologist had me having a lumpectomy after the mri and I was a nervous wreck

I had a double mastectomy and biopsy of both breast. I just read my pathology report and it says that the clip was retrieved from my right breast, but I am not seeing it retrieved from my left. Now I do have to have my exchange surgery still so I guess they will get it then after I tell them of my concern.😳
