There is no such thing as a hypoallergenic dog. The protein that causes the allergy is in the saliva, not the fur.

the whole “hypoallergenic” dog thing is so untrue and there’s no such thing. Every mammal sheds if it don’t have hair it will shed feathers and scales too. 😭

They had poodles doing guide dog work for the blind at the time… so while I get the initial point, he didn’t HAVE to.

Doodles shed. The only dog that doesn’t shed is a hairless dog e.g. xoloitzcuintli 🤷🏼♀️

Standard poodles are equally as smart, trainable, happy, wonderful dogs. There was zero reason to cross a poodle with anything. They are retrievers just like labs and goldens.

As a canine trainer and behaviour consultant I can tell you labradooles, goldendoodles and cavoodles are my #1 behaviour consult clients coz most of the time they are a MESS. If you combine the drive of both of these breeds its often just a disaster! Both breeds on their own are fabulous there is no need to cross them 😂

And "Hypoallergenic" dogs DON'T exist! They are allergy friendly. But, if you're allergic to the dog's saliva or dander, you're going to have a hard time. Just because they "dont shed" doesn't mean anything. No such thing as a Hypoallergenic dog 😭

the other thing is that the puppies were tested (HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN TESTING) and only the 1 puppy was truly hypoallergenic, the other ones in the litter did not have coats that were hypoallergenic. so the idea that every doodle is hypoallergenic is bogus.

I watch dogs through the Rover app and take all breeds from Maltese to Great Danes, pit bulls included etc. the one breed I’m ALWAYS hesitant to say yes to… a doodle. Every doodle I’ve met has been absolutely crazy.
