@afrikanhairgod: #stitch with @Lazhane Hightower As someone that's experienced this with various clients, in my secondary opinion, I believe this is the result of hard water exposure. This my personal opinion and does not supercede the professional opinion of the stylist in this stitch.
That hard water contains so many chemicals that reacts to uv rays, usually making it lighter in appearance, more brittle and ultimately damaged. But it is treatable with antioxidant treatments, etc. You are spot on, sun damage is a stretch.

This makes sense. I bought the oui detox shampoo and couldn’t explain it my hair felt AMAZING AFTER! I planned to implement once a month or so because I believe this is why I kept having dry hair/ scalp/ split ends.

I moved into my new home over a year ago and when I tell you I watched my hair get less and less full and breakage towards the roots. Learned the hard way about hard water 😔

I live in the tropics. I know I have hard water. I clarify once a month and use conditioner once a month, including a spray leave in liquid conditioner. Is not the hair that is supposed to protect you from the sun?

I have live in LA county for about two years, I have naturally auburn hair. I had a shower filter but not a softener until recently. If anyone is confused on what hard water damage looks like it’s soooo easy to tell on my hair lmao

One of Afro hair’s biological purposes is protecting the scalp from the sun. Our hair was literally meant to be exposed to the sun. As an African, living in Africa, in a very hot country the idea of “sun damage” is so wild to me. If we’re talking about colour sure, but this???
