For me, when the burned out pursuer (me) stops trying, the other spouse interprets that as “everything must be fine now” when in reality, there is nothing but hopelessness.

Definitely a two way street, I tried too. you don't get to just give up on your family bc you're tired. marriage isn't easy. if the other person is trying to change and be better. you owe your spouse that chance

I feel like my ex is burnt out but I was the one always putting effort in planning and initiating stuff in our relationship since we only saw each other like once or twice a month because he really cares a lot about his future and he’s always really busy with his studies. Could he be burnt out because I started getting mad at him more frequently? I did get VERY mad at him a week before the breakup for sleeping over at one of his friends house after he went partying which worried me to death because he didn’t tell me and I have his location and then at the day of our breakup I got mad at him again because we were finally gonna see each other again in 2 days but he said he couldn’t say for long because he had to go home to study. When he broke up he said that he feels like he’s hurting me and that he doesn’t feel good enough for me and I really regret making him feel that way

I was the burnt out person. My soon to be ex husband didn’t care. He always had one foot out the door. And then he said “don’t date a woman after me. “ I was just done with the marriage when he asked me to go to marriage counselling in a threatening tone. This was all the same conversation. I was done. Still got a marriage counseling for myself but turned into a counseling for healing myself. In my therapy I learned I was in an abusive narcissistic relationship. No matter how much I loved him I did not want the emotional abuse to continue. So he took himself out before I started filing for divorce

this is so confusing to me because I'm the one you describe yet she is the one who break up with me saying she is lost and needs to find herself... but I was the one starting the conversation, discussions and expressing what I felt she was more of the one no saying anything or not knowing what to say about it. even if I thought of ending I didnt because I love her so much I believe we can work things out but was her who decided to end

What if you know you were the person causing burnout to the other person and are working on healing now and your partner doesn’t do anything of what you said about “pursuing” but claims they did.

My wife at this moment is through this she said to me she doesn’t love me more This happened four weeks ago two weeks ago we slept together and then on Thursday last week she said we’re fully broken up. We still live in the same house. We have a 3 year old son i’ve been cheated on in the past I’m not proud of it but I looked down her phone. I told her I did this she was not happy yesterday my son was planning on your iPad. She’s left work and parked in a random car park when I phone her didn’t pick up 5 to 6 minutes later she rang me said she was at next car park where she was parked was nowhere near there. I think she meeting up with someone else.
